Automaticity: The Human, The Cognitive Miser

To All God's Children,


-->During the day people have to make 4000 decisions. It’s easier for your brain to just go on autopilot and use the unconscious to make certain decisions. In which situations would a person prefer to rely on their unconscious choices? People are cognitive misers and attempt to rely on procedural or implicit memory to produce as much automatic thinking as possible. Cognitively, we can get very lazy once a task has become automatic.
