Resisting Nature: The Insanity of Instincts in the Modern World

To All God's Children,

-->The movie “The Soloist” has taught me even more about life. A schizophrenic cannot live alone in an apartment because they are under stimulated and their brain begins to invent images, sounds, and paranoid delusions. Being disconnected from the sights and sounds of the world is what drives a man crazy. If we can resist our natural talents and drive ourselves crazy and to an early grave then that must mean we are in control. In this sense, I believe we do have free will. In order to resist something we must be in control of something else. Right?
This is one of my harebrained idea, but I’m going to say it anyway. I match up so well with my Libra sign readings (by real experts of astrology; not that stuff near the funnies in the newspaper). Maybe people who are not in tune with their natural being don’t follow their zodiac or biorhythm and maybe that’s why it doesn’t match up. The same could be true about numerology and why I match up so much with the number 4. If you are in tune with nature, your number will follow you.
I was also watching a special on A&E about “hoarders” or people who excessively hoard things in their house to the point where some of them have to move outside in tents because there’s no room in the house. This behavior is instinctual and also beneficial when you think about it. Coming from an evolutionary perspective, when resources would easily deplete the instincts of a hoarder to collect as much food and as many resources as possible was highly sought after.
However, these days we’re so far removed from nature that these behaviors are seen as unnecessary and eccentric. As for the cultures left behind by our pursuit of modernity, they would still require an instinct such as this. Keeping in tune with their instincts and working with the world bears its consequences. Civilism is the act of thinking that someone is civil or human. Our White ancestors reprimanded aborigines for being “less than human” which is a type of cultural elitism. It would seem that White people of the past who promoted the Puritan work ethic are the one’s who were not human. They were passionless, fake, emotionless, and detached. It’s pathetic.

Peace be with you
